What is Biomotion?
Biomotion literally means human movement, like your legs moving while riding a bike. The brain recognizes this movement and immediately becomes alert.
A road user sees Biomotion and automatically thinks "There's a human cycling there, I need to pay attention!"

Safety first
The frantic traffic chaos is increasing with scooters, fatbikes, scooters, and more! Unfortunately, this is reflected in the number of bicycle accidents: as many as 58 cyclists end up in the emergency room every day in the dark.
Of all accidents, 71% of those cyclists are hit from the side, an area that regular bicycle lights do not properly illuminate. With the Ziemi, you are visible from the side which helps reduce the number of bicycle accidents.
Make sure you are seen!
Frequently Asked Questions
Ziemi lights not the road in front of you, but the moving legs of the cyclist. Thus, Biomotion (your human movement) is visible, automatically making fellow road users more attentive and cautious.
With regular bicycle lights, it is important that the light has a wide beam angle in order to have a clear view of the road in front of you. If such a bicycle light were to be reversed, not only does it result in glare for yourself, but it also hinders fellow road users. Ziemi is carefully designed to illuminate only the moving legs of the cyclist.
No, the Ziemi is not meant to replace your traditional front light. It is still important to use a regular front light to have good visibility on the road and be visible from the front.
Ziemi is a supplemental light that makes your moving legs visible from the front and side, making you more recognizable as a cyclist and safer in traffic.
Reflectors are absolutely visibility enhancing and mandatory on every bicycle. However, reflectors are reactive. In fact, light must first shine on them before they become visible. Think of a situation on a traffic circle, when you come from the corner of your eye, the light is too late on the reflector.
The Ziemi ensures that you are constantly visible and well-lit participating in traffic. Especially in the corner of the eye, you now stand out with a larger illuminated area and your recognition as a human being.
We have extensively tested and optimized Ziemi. By using white and diffused light, the moving legs are visible with any skin and pant color. Sometimes a little less bright, but the movement remains clearly perceptible.
Ziemi's housing is designed so that the light is focused only on the moving legs of the cyclist and then reflects back to the front and side. This makes the white light perceptible only from the front and side, and not from behind.
